چکیده

A multisource x-ray interior imaging system with limited angle scanning is investigated to study the possibility of building an ultrafast microCT for dynamic small animal imaging, and two methods are employed to perform interior reconstruction from a limited number of projections collected by the multisource interior x-ray system. The first is total variation minimization with the steepest descent search (TVM-SD) and the second is total difference minimization with soft-threshold filtering (TDM-STF). Comprehensive numerical simulations and animal studies are performed to validate the associated reconstructed methods and demonstrate the feasibility and application of the proposed system configuration. The image reconstruction results show that both of the two reconstruction methods can significantly improve the image quality and the TDM-SFT is slightly superior to the TVM-SD. Finally, quantitative image analysis shows that it is possible to 8 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. 0031-9155/11/196337+21$33.00 © 2011 Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine Printed in the UK 6337

Ultra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...

A model based, anatomy dependent method for ultra-fast creation of primary SPECT projections

Introduction: Monte Carlo (MC) is the most common method for simulating virtual SPECT projections. It is useful for optimizing procedures, evaluating correction algorithms and more recently image reconstruction as a forward projector in iterative algorithms; however, the main drawback of MC is its long run time. We introduced a model based method considering the eff...

Attenuation Correction in SPECT during Image Reconstruction using an Inverse Monte Carlo Method: A Simulation Study

Introduction: The main goal of SPECT imaging is to determine activity distribution inside the organs of the body. However, due to photon attenuation, it is almost impossible to do a quantitative study. In this paper, we suggest a mathematical relationship between activity distribution and its corresponding projections using a transfer matrix. Monte Carlo simulation was used to find a precise tr...

Limited Angle C-Arm Tomography and Segmentation for Guidance of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Procedures

Angiographic projections of the left atrium (LA) and the pulmonary veins (PV) acquired with a rotational C-arm system are used for 3D image reconstruction and subsequent automatic segmentation of the LA and PV to be used as roadmap in fluoroscopy guided LA ablation procedures. Acquisition of projections at high oblique angulations may be problematic due to increased collision danger of the dete...

DISCRETE TOMOGRAPHY AND FUZZY INTEGER PROGRAMMING

We study the problem of reconstructing binary images from four projections data in a fuzzy environment. Given the uncertainly projections,w e want to find a binary image that respects as best as possible these projections. We provide an iterative algorithm based on fuzzy integer programming and linear membership functions.
